Crystals consist of monosodium urate, calcium pyrophosphate dihydrate, calcium hydroxyapatite and calcium oxalate.
Radiologic findings reflect sequela of crystal deposition.
Diagnosis is made clinically or by arthrocentesis.
Imaging helps in differentiating from other inflammatory or infectious conditions.
