Infection

Invasion of a joint by an infectious agent resulting in joint damage.

Infection of the bone, joint, soft tissue and spine requires timely diagnosis and treatment to reduce complications.

Diagnosis is often made clinically or with fluid/tissue sampling. Imaging often helps with diagnosis, but should not delay diagnosis.
